The probability of AI extinguishing humanity in the upcoming decade amounts to 10 % – according to an AI researcher at Anthropic. Consequently, Anthropic’s CEO Dario Amodei called for slowing down the pace of development. His three-step approach includes external audits of security practices, cooperation amongst AI developers and global regulation through international cooperation. Sam Altman, CEO of Open AI, and Elon Musk agreed with the proposal. But Amodei’s recommendations have also set off antitrust alarms in the US Federal Trade Commission.
