EACC Florida is organizing an Invitation-Only Industry Briefing with Kristian Hedberg, Minister Counsellor, Mobility & Transport at the EU Delegation in Washington DC.

Kristian Hedberg, who will be on a 3-day official visit to Miami in December, will update our guests on the EU’s transportation and mobility agenda with a focus on innovation and sustainability including areas of coordination with the United States.

Kristian Hedberg joined the EU Delegation in Washington DC in September 2023. This is his first official visit to S. Florida.

A Finnish national, Mr Hedberg holds an MBA/Economics degree from the Turku School of Economics in Turku, Finland and a post-graduate diploma from the School of International Relations of the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

He joined the European Commission as a desk officer in the Directorate-General (Department) for Competition policy in 1996 and later worked in the Directorate-General for Enlargement.

Mr Hedberg pursued his career as a Member of the Cabinet (private office) of EU Commissioner Liikanen (Enterprise policy and Information society) and thereafter of the Cabinet of EU Commissioner Rehn (Enlargement policy). In 2007, he became the Deputy Head of the Cabinet of EU Commissioner Kuneva (Consumer policy).

In 2009, he joined the Directorate-General for Enlargement as the Head of Unit responsible for relations with the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. In 2012, he took up the post of Head of Unit dealing with Land Transport Policy in the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport.

From 2014 to 2019 he was the Deputy Head of EU Commissioner Bieńkowska’s Cabinet (Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs).

In 2019, he returned to the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport as the Head of Unit responsible for Policy co-ordination and Inter-institutional Relations. In 2021, he was appointed Head of Unit for Sustainable & Intelligent Transport.

Mr Hedberg took up his current post at the Delegation of the European Union to the United States in September 2023.
