Pierre Moscovici, former EU Commissioner for Economic & Financial Affairs, Taxation & Customs,  has been the First President of the French supreme body for auditing the use of public spending since 2020. This institution is independent from the Government and Parliament. It is in charge of auditing public accounts, as well as contributing to the evaluation of public policies.

Mr. Moscovici previous positions included:

• June 1997 : Minister in charge of European Affairs
• June 1997 : Member of the French National Assembly for the department of the Doubs
• July 1994 : Elected Member of the European Parliament
• September 1990 : Head of department for public service modernization and financial resources at the High Committee for Strategic Planning
• May 1988 : Technical advisor to Minister of National Education, Youth & Sport
